Natural disasters occur rather frequently on the Indian subcontinent: Every year, large parts of Bangladesh are covered by monsoonal floods. Coastal areas are devastated by cyclones causing waves several meters high.
In India, year-long periods of extreme draught are followed by violent rainfalls. Also here, tornados are ravaging large regions, in particular the coastal zones.
In our project areas, we support medium and long-term rehabilitation measures. The goal is mainly to restore the economic livelihood of people in already running development programmes in order not to jeopardize their successes.
Simultaneously we train people how to react to recurring disasters and to take long-term measures to reduce damages caused by floods and draughts.
160 € are sufficient as an initial aid for an income generating programme.
